Congratulations Sheena!
Sounds like you've had one hell of a month. I hope everything works out well for you!
I have joined a gym! I also have a workout buddy and have been hitting it hard. I think that I got caught up doing the same work outs everyday and getting lax about it because I always worked out at home. More good news is I've inspired my boyfriend to join too. :) I joined a Snap Fitness and I'm stoked. It's only $30 per month no contract and until the end of the year the enrollment fee's only $50. Don't mean to sound like a commercial for Snap, but I love it. My faith in myself and my weight-loss journey has been revived. Only 30 pounds to go!
Happy Holidays yall!

I just read...
I just read an article that said low calorie diets don't work because your body gets "used to" the amount of calories you eat in a day and tries to burn exactly that many. Do yall know anything about that? Let me know please. I hope all are well.

AWOL
Hi Everyone,
Boy have I been AWOL LOL. Not doing well at all this time of year is not a good time to try and lose weight!! Think i've gained a couple this month. Not been exercising at all..I'm bad Can't really think of bothering now until the New Year just hope I can maintain until then.
Sheena, Take Care! Hope everything works out for you Sorry the job didn't work out.
Rachel, I think what you are referring to is that if you don't take in enough calories then your body goes into 'starvation' mode and hangs on to every pound of fat on your body. That is why it is so important not to drop your calories drastically. The other thing of course is that when you drop a significant amount of weight you no longer will need the same calories that you did when you were a bigger person so you have to constantly adjust your calories until you reach your desired weight. Congrats on joining a gym thats awesome that you like it so much!!

Good luck for 2011
Wish you all well with your weightloss.
I've lost 10lbs since beginning my diet at the start of this month and am grateful for the support I've found on another forum. I'm saddened that no one even said hello or acknowledged me here. I guess this simply isn't the place for me.
Best of luck with it all.

Happy New Year !
Time to get back on track. I tried to control myself over the holidays and I did pretty well until Christmas, then lost it until today. So we're back in it. How is everyone else?
Miss Mac congrats on your weight loss, best of luck!

I'm Here!
Yah the holidays really make weight loss and healthy choices go out the window eh?...I definately have stopped for quite a while...but that's okay, I'm gonna get right back into it....we are having a lousy Tim Hortens breakfast this morning but after that we are gonna go grocery shopping so hopefully I'll be able to eat REAL food later today lol.
Cat that's great that you joined a gym. Hows it going with that? Where I live there are only 2 gyms, one is a trendy one where all the super fit and pretty go and they charge way to much...and then the gym at the leisure center which they renovated and it is actually really nice. I prefer that one but usually this time of the year it's packed with all the resolution people and you have to wait in line for all the machines. So I probably won't go, at leat not at this time of the year.

Need Help!
Hi Everyone,
Glad you have kept the thread going i've fallen off the wagon big time and need help!! LOL. I lost the plot over christmas and never found it again so i'm back asking for your support. I really need to start exercising again but find I am so tired after work that I don't bother I just do chores and prepare dinner I have to make a conscious effort to do this before the better weather comes. I want to be thinner when its warmer not just starting a diet LOL.
Sheena, it was Rachel that joined a gym not me. I'm too chicken to exercise with a group of other people LOL will do it on my own in my own home.
Hi Rachel, glad you're still here lets get cracking with the weightloss!
Hi Miss Mac, sorry I didn't notice you had joined us but congrats on getting the support you needed and the weightloss
Well think i'm going to take some measurements and record my weight this weekend ready for a 'new' start. I'll buy some healthy veggies when I go shopping too. Take Care ~ Cathy.

Oopsies
Hi Everyone
Oopsies, sorry Cat...sometimes I speed read and then everything all just smooshes together lol. I don't care for the gym much either but I figure if I join then it's like I have to go otherwise I'd be wasting money. I think the hardest part is actually getting the nerve to go but once I'm there it's okay....that being said....I still haven't gone to the gym. Warren might go with me, if he does then it would be better for me.
Lately I haven't done much to get what I want health wise....when I go out now I try to order something that's lighter or healthier. Actually the other day at Original Joe's I ordered a grilled chicken burger and a side of fresh veggies and I didn't even touch the fries...well I had a little lol but pretty much all of it was left on my plate....
I figure small steps to ease back into is better than a complete overhaul otherwise I'd get overwhelmed and give up.
Hope everyone is doing well.

Coming back from the holidays is harder than I thought
I love the gym. The one I go to everyone keeps to themselves and I never feel judged (even though I'm totally the fat kid in the room). If they did, how can they hate on me trying to better myself? The gym is great also because you can switch up your workout routine so much. When I worked out at home I would do the same old thing every time and my body got used to it and it was almost like doing nothing at all. I am sooooooo glad I joined!
That being said, I'm not doing so well on the diet. I was pretty good during the holidays, then I gave up for a week and a half Christmas to Jan 3. I had been doing so well I thought my self-control would return but it hasn't. I'm way more apt to splurge than I was before, my portion sizes are growing and I'm getting nervous. How do I get the discipline back?
Lets get back to the goal. Lets really challenge ourselves to be 10 lbs lighter by the end of February. At least 5. It would do us all well if we knew we were all trying our best together.
