17-Day Diet
My MIL is starting the 17-Day Diet program in January. I looked it over and it seems like a safe and reasonable plan. Has anyone tried it?

Not familiar with it.
I refer to the South Beach book for some stuff, but I don't rely on diets. But it probably shakes up your metabolism for a couple weeks which is good. I am also reading Sugar Busters for some scientific understanding of how glucagon works in our blood and effects our blood glucose. I am also researching a HIGH saturated fat plan...like the bacon eggs butter stuff...but I have to learn that carbs of a complex nature aren't the worst, but best to avoid to lose and keep weight off. Muscle tissue needs sat fat to build. I don't get enough protein daily.... I need to work on it!! IT's a challenge.

Hope your MIL has success on her diet.

If she has a lot to lose, you can help her.

She has A LOT to lose and watched me lose my weight but is VERY ingrained in her "old" conventional thinking. Keeps trying Weight Watchers and other temporary fixes but her head is not in the game of discovering true health and permanent real food changes :(

Weight Watchers is missing the facts...
Weight Watchers plays on peoples emotions, with the group etc. I found so many women/men in the group constantly trying to cheat the system, like finding ways around points etc, using lots of artificial stuff and snacks which only lead to more bg swings and binge eating. I wished they would have taught more about real nutrition and "health" and less about how many points each food is. It's a gimmick, meant to cause failure and dependancy. Just my feeling.
