Confused About Logging Calories and Exercise
I am supposed to eat appox 1300 cals a day. If I exercise and burn 500 calories that day, do I subtract that from my alloted calories? If I do, won't that put me below the minimum amount of calories I'm supposed to get that day? Or, do I add the calories burned to the calories eaten, so I would be eating 1800 calories that day - but with exercise.

I've been eating the 1300 cals, exercising, and am hungry (stomach growling hungry) a lot. Can I eat more calories when I exercise so I'm not so hungry and still lose weight?

I'm sooooo confused.

Calories
I believe it is great to have your body guessing. Jullian Michaels sent me an email talking about changing up calories so body don't get use to same thing. It helps to speed up metabolism which is good.

Meals
You want to make sure you are eating 5 times a day . Three meals and 2 snacks. Snacks like yogurt, fruit, etc. By doing this helps your stomach from growling.

Calorie Deficit is the key
Calories you eat MINUS your basic metabolism rate MINUS your workout calories EQUALS your calorie deficit (or surplus).

The research I have found shows that generally you don't want a deficit of more than 800 calories on any particular day and you don't want a deficit of more than 500 calories for more than 7 days in a row.

I find that the "My Progress" page here at FitClick is very useful in showing daily calorie deficits/surpluses. Just have to be accurate in logging food and exercise.

Phases
The Curves plan uses three phases to boost metabolism and it works. Also has you eating several small meals throughout the day.
