Gaining weight while on diet
I have gained 2 lbs this week instead of losing. I have been on the same 1500 calorie diet for weeks now. Where I was losing 1 to 2 lbs a week. I cannot exercise right now because I am having some back trouble (5 surgeries already) and may have to have another surgery. Should I decrease my calories to kick start my metabolism again?

Bump your caloreis up to about 1800 to get your metabolism moving. Make sure you are eating good carbs and lean proteins. Try this for about three weeks, then drop to 1200 for a week, then back to about 1500 to 1600 calories. If you plateau, then do the cycle again. Exercise at least 3 days a week.

Life goes on....
1 or 2 lbs in the grand scheme of lifestyle change shouldn't be a make or break it deal.

Thanks
Thanks for all of your suggestions! I can tolerate a little walking, not much but I am sure better than nothing and I am going to take that advice about bumping up the calories.

USe your clothing as a barometer.
I have a shirt that has a zipper. It is my "size" barometer. Clothing doesn't lie, scales can't tell you fat vs. muscle.

It's really weird, how your body can change,
b/c sometimes clothes that used to fit me when I was HEAVIER don't, my body has changed since having children. Secondly, many of my jeans DON'T fit, they are tight in the belly and way too huge in the legs.My legs have gotten way slimmer, thighs esp. MUSCLE can make you change your shape too. It used to be my legs were thicker and my stomach smaller. Having a child changes the "structure" of your body. My middle will now always be a little different.

A lot of females can relate to that Heather. A females body does change after having a child. Some women bounce right back, but the many of us women have to really work hard to come close to getting that body back that we once had, before giving birth to children.

As we get older also plays a role because I know when I was young I didn't even have to work at staying slim I just was LOL
