The only thing that worked for my was cardio and burning more calories than I consumed in a day. I know it sounds pretty straight forward but this worked for me.

Hi Ashley, it will take a combination of diet and exercise.
I would recommend bicycle crunches (if you're used to doing crunches) if not try leg lifts and planks. The bicycles give the best result for working the abs but your back has to be ready for it. For the obliques I would do 45 degree leg lifts (going from 45 to 90 and back) repeats or lying on a swiss exercise ball hold a 6 - 8 barbell over your head and lower behind your head as far down as you can and keep repeating. I know it sounds a bit complicated but these are actually the most easy of the ab exercises yet you get a lot of bang for your buck.
As far as the diet, it's up to you which one to use. I prefer to eat many small meals during the day concentrating on breakfast as the main meal and then working your way down as the day goes on but I know this is not always possible with our busy schedules. Sounds like you have a goal so just stick to it.
If you want to get more detailed, send me a message or email. I'm no expert but know a few things. Have fun and good luck with your workouts. -- Jorge
