Hearty, Healthy Breakfast for Those on a Diet
Being on a diet can be really difficult especially for us foodies who love to eat and try different things. With breakfast being the most important meal of the day it's crucial that you are able to eat a wholesome and nutritious breakfast everyday that meets the requirements of your diet. Some of the best breakfast items for those who are on a diet include, egg whites, Oatmeal, Yogurt and fruit.
Egg whites
In recent studies,
cholesterol in eggs has been shown to be a major contributing component to the structure and nutrition in an egg. An egg yolk contains about 180 mg of cholesterol making this one food item account for 62% of the daily recommended dose of cholesterol for an average person. This is one reason why people have been starting to shy away from eating eggs as much at breakfast and are choosing other alternatives that maybe aren't necessarily any more healthy than an egg. Eggs are packed with protein and have the ability to make you feel full and satisfied longer therefore, becoming the perfect breakfast item. For most healthy, people the amount of cholesterol in the egg shouldn't scare you away from eating them as your body will be able to handle it and still get all of the great nutrition that comes with it. However, if you are someone suffering from extremely high cholesterol try eating egg white instead. Egg whites still have all of the great nutritional benefits that the yolks do but without all of the cholesterol that goes with it. One thing to note though is you will get only about half the amount of protein with egg whites as you would with the egg yolks, which can be a bit of compromise.
Oatmeal
Oatmeal is one of the healthiest foods you can eat not only for your diet but for your heart too. Oatmeal is full of vitamins, fiber and antioxidants that help fight disease and keep your heart healthy and happy. Oatmeal is also great for people on a diet since it is so packed with fiber and fiber will help with satiety allowing you to feel full longer and without
eating more calories . With the nutrient dense nature of it, oatmeal makes for a strong breakfast item with little to no empty calories. Start your morning off with hot oatmeal topped with fruit or if you aren't into warm oatmeal try overnight oats with almond milk and a pinch of sugar. There are tons of ways to eat oatmeal which is just one more reason why it is a great breakfast item for people on a diet.
Yogurt and Fruit
Yogurt is a strong way to start the morning due to its nutrient rich nature and high protein. In just 7 ounces of yogurt, you get 12 grams of protein making this a protein packed breakfast that not only
tastes good but is good for your diet too. When your trying to stick to a diet, it's good to choose foods high in protein and nutrient rich so that you can eat less calories but still meet all of your body's nutritional needs.
