Hi! I'm new and could use a buddy.
Already got off to a bad start. >_> I accidently put my age as 18 instead of 19....ah well.

I'm currently researching better ways to eat and I'm customizing a exercise plan using resistance bands 2-3 times a week and hopefully i'll pick up walking again.

Im a girl and i'm 19. I've always kind of been tired my whole life and found out half a year ago that I have a low thyroid and now i'm taking meds for it.

I've also had depression my whole life, yeah it sucks but I always try to look on the bright side of everything. But I HATE those stupid depression commercials...their so...depressing, Oh the irony.

I'm 6'2 and I've always kind of been..pudgy? I don't know. I have a great figure but I just want to be able to have a flat stomach. And to get rid of my arms! So I can buy whatever clothes I want without having to worry the all-to-asked question to thyself "Does this make me look fat?"

Kind of a long introduction. *Blushes* I'm usually so anti-social and shy. But I put the truth out there nd lately I'm becoming more social. I'm very mature for my age and have always hated the whole teengae "Everything revolves around me." garbage and the drama!

Well hopefully that sums me up a good bit. ^^ I could use some help on this site since i'm new and hopefully make a good friend!

I'm your buddy
I feel ya- Im 5'9 and always been curvy... I don't dislike my curves but moved across country recently- away from my family. I think the stress and depression lead me to take comfort in food. I weigh more now than ever. I know this is the craziest time to start a diet, with the holidays and all but I don't have a choice. Things have gotten out of control. I could use a buddy too!

Yay!
Ok! I've got these resistance bands because I can't fit exercise equipment in my room. So far I'm going to start on the 8th and I've made a schedule. I've always been good at organizing I just hop i'll follow through with the routine. And even if I do I have NO idea what to do about a eating plan. I live with my family and I help my mom by cooking. And it's hard to eat healthy when someone eats whatever you've got planned. So I've been trying to think of ways to have healthy, yet easy, ways of doing this. Have you thought of a good eating plan yet?

Finding Inspiration and Motivation
I think everyone finds something different that matches their personality. Some people here buddy up and that helps them because they are people-oriented. Other people find the point system (competing to get to the top of the Leader Board) motivating.

The point system motivates me since it gives me points for recording exercise, food, weigh-ins and updates. I like seeing my numbers go up. It's like a game. I also write a blog and search out inspirational things to say to myself.

Also, my beloved is quite inspirational. He's very disciplined and he's doing this with me. I see him and I don't want to fail him when he is setting such a good example.

more info?
Carolyn- I am new here and looking for motivation. What point system are you talking about? Do you know of a good place to go to find out basic information about navigating the site?

I've lost over 40 pounds before and it's taken 3 years to put 20 lbs back on, but it has got to go!! I am doing swim lessons with my 5 year old daughter this winter, then we will be doing a family vacation in FL and there will be extended family and bathing suits involved. It's quite motivating!!

Off to do my measurements, will do bikini before pics today too. The before pics are great to have for oh so many reasons!!

Hi Rachel,

I'm kind of new here also and unfortunately I don't see any sort of help files with navigation assistance. That is the problem with being on a brand new site that is still in Beta mode.

If you click any of your tabs you'll see a spot on the right side of the page with your name, your age and gender, and your points. You get points:
1. Whenever you log what you ate for breakfast, lunch, or dinner;
2. Whenever you enter your weight in a weigh-in;
3. Whenever you enter a workout;
4. For the first status you enter for the day.

I think you also get points if you create workouts that other people use.

On the bottom right side of the Home screen they have a points "Leader Board" showing the top 10 people by points. If you click the More button at the bottom of the Leader Board it takes you to a more extensive Leader Board page that lets you view people by points in the last seven days or the average points per week as well as by total points. And you can view lots more people and their positions. I'm having fun watching myself move up the Leaderboard as I accumulate good days. ("Good" defined here as recording food, workouts, weight, and updates.)

It's great that you've lost 40 pounds and only put 20 back on!

More info - Thanks!!
Thanks for the feedback, Carolyn. I lost my weight with eDiets which I used for the comaradae. We had a great no-whining, do whatever it takes, get your 3 point days (eat w/in calorie range, drink your water and exercise) group that would make me go to the gym whenever I had the nagging voice in my head giving me excuses not to. I also used fitday.com to track my calories. They have fabulous reports, you can see if you are getting your RDA's, a great little bar chart with calories eaten vs. calories burned and other stuff. The downside is you are flying solo and I don't feel like doing that.

It took a while to find a great group on eDiets, I am hopeful to do the same here. A lot of the groups always seemed to spiral down to whiney "I can't do this because..." which I don't have the patience for. You've got to be on your own side. No one else can do it for you.

I'll check out the leader board. It seems pretty interesting, perhaps some of the people up there belong to a group that I might like and can hook up with.

4:30 spinning class today - it's been a long time, it's gonna hurt.
