How much protein do you need? Here's a simple way to calculate it.
Take your body WEIGHT.
Divide by 2.2.
Done. Eating less protein than that can result in muscle loss.
By the same token-too much protein is not good either, strains the kidneys, make you feel dizzy or out of balance, and can cause bad breath. I know I have difficulty hitting my protein target some days.

Are you getting the proper amount daily?

I know I need more...
but I still seem to have trouble meeting my target on Protein. My whey powder has a soybean additive, that I am wary about drinking, so I lose 26 grams per day by cutting it out.

Other protein sources
Add some of your favorite nut butter to your shakes for a little extra protein if you don't want the whey. Or if you have nut allergies, add some legumes to your meals. They pack a good deal of protein. Eggs are the leading source when it comes to packing a lot of protein into a small package. I even saw a new vegan egg alternative called the Vegg that is supposed to be a good substitute for vegan recipes that need the "yolk".
