Muscle weighs more than fat...
Have you ever had your body fat measured?
I don't get too crazy about the numbers on the scale. I realize that many factors make the scale go up or down. Some have even said throw the scale away. Most people know if they need to lose fat.
I know if I am working out with weights/body weight resistance/cardio and my clothes fit better, I most likely have lost fat and gained some muscle, but do you think calipers are a good tool to have for the actual numbers, or are they only for when you get to your goal weight, and want to keep the muscle fat ratio optimal?

Yes, I had my body fat measured by a personal trainer. Calipers are useful for people who are trying to regulate their weight and those trying to maintain their figure. I heard, their not very accurate.

I have my body fat measured by my physical therapist/trainer. I have my own calipers at home but I am not very good at getting consistent measurements.

Yes just recently.
I had my body fat measured during my annual physical at my medical clinic. They used a "Bid Pod" that measures body fat using air pressure. It's supposed to be the most accurate measurement.

Myth- Muscle weighs more than fat
One pound of muscle is same as one pound of fat.
A pound is a pound no matter how you cut it!

Yes I use a Accumeasure caliper
and a Myotape for body measurments ,1st day of each month. I also
have one done as part of my annual physical. I find it a very useful
tool

Great Answers!
Thanks-oh and I meant to mention that although a lb. of fat and a lb.of muscle "weigh" the same amount, the lb. of muscle apparently takes up LESS space causing a smaller, leaner appearance.
* Better to take up less room, I say...

Yes rmatt06 a pound is a pound but Cutcarb12 is right alot less space for a pound of muscle. I also use a caliper and I also have have a body fat monitor scale. No I wouldn't bet the farm on the numbers but I also have have one done as a part of my annual physical. The numbers are only .4% off on body fat percentage. Also gives me my total body water percentage. Technology is a wonderful thing sometimes. It's the Cadillac of scales. Did you notice I used a North American car not a import.

Too much work
Yes I am too lazy to poke myself and calculate out my actual fat percentage. I go more by the scale, all though I am pretty sure I am putting on muscle mass while I am losing fat so I may be hidding some of my success. The other thing I look for is how my clothes fit. I found a pair of non stretchy jeans from way back in college that I am bound and determined to fit in to again. I try them on once in awhile to see if I am any closer to squeezing into them.
