New Challenge - 40 lbs in 16 Weeks
I would like to challenge myself and anyone else that would like to join me. New Years Eve is 16 weeks away from today. I would like to start my weight loss before the New Year and be 40 lbs lighter by New Years Eve. 40 lbs will be a great accomplishment but just the start of the weight I need to lose. I will be weighing in weekly and hopefully some others will join with me. :)
Start Weight: 293.6 (eeeekkkk)

Be Careful A Heathy weight loss would be 1 or perhaps 2 pounds per week
That's a lot of weight too lose in such a short time. Many of us will tell you the secret to maintaining a healthy weight is to change your lifestyle in small ways that you can live with for the rest of your life. I lost 65 pounds 7 years ago but did so over a 2 year period. Now I am on this site to maintain that weight loss. I have been pretty consistent until earlier this year when I had a major (happy) life event which has affected my eating and exercise patterns. I know to get back on track only small changes are required.
I wish you all the best, but hope that you don't all go on crash diets that see you reach a short term goal but wind up yo-yo-ing and having even more weight to lose next year.

Setting goals is great!
I lost 25 pds. over 6 months last year. I am taking off weight that I gained after a big move out of the country, different diet, life style, missing my family etc. but most of all forgetting what I did to hit my goal in the first time. Tracking every bite, and smaller portions. I also lost 1 to 2 pds. every week. As you get closer to your ideal weight it will come off slower. Good luck. You will do it if you make life-style changes.
