Running with a dog
Do any of you runners out there run with your dog? If so, do you have any tips? For example how old should my puppy be before he can run with me? How do you keep your form while holding the leash? Is there some sort of running belt I can buy to which I can attach the leash to keep my hands free?

I've made my own harness with a rope and attached it with a short leash

Running with your best friend
I did obedience training and worked with her a lot she would run or bike with me without a leash. She is 16 now so her running days are over.

Thanks CT
I have a harness for him so I will try to rig up a belt for myself. I was just wondering if there was already something specific on the market. It's clearly to early to run with him yet (he's only 13 weeks) but I was thinking I would start around 6 months. Does that sound right or is that still too young?

Thanks Edmonton
Unfortunately, where I live, dogs have to be on a leash and its strictly enforced (sort of like Jay walking across Jasper Ave ;)

Running with a dog
A daily run is a great alternative to dog walking; running provides your dog the mental and physical stimulation needed to help prevent unwanted behaviors. Quite simply, dogs think running is fun. Daily exercise helps maintain ideal body weight and strengthens the cardiovascular system, both of which contribute to a longer lifespan for your dog.

We have those same laws but they don't enforce it. But they do enforce jay walking on Jasper Ave.

What Type of Dog?
Some dogs have the potential to suffer from hip problems so they recommend that you don't run with them until they are at least a year old and their hips are matured. You may want to check with your vet to see what she/he recommends for your particular dog.

Runner dog
I see a lot of people around my neighborhood running with either medium-sized mutts or "sporting"-type dogs: retrievers, bird dogs
