Nice to meet you here, Marcie
Hi Marcie,
First of all, thank you for replying to my post; it's always great when people have something to say! And thanks as well for the congrats on the baby. He really is a handful (my mom says he looks like me
It might be helpful to remember that not everyone is the same; we all have different eyes, hair (mine has left me already
skin, height, colour. And that is what makes our world such an interesting place! And even though our society seems to reward skinniness, it's important to remember that not all people like their partners thin. I once read that women are split 50 / 50 on bald men, but I'm sure you have even better probabilities than me!
Also, each and every one of us is special and unique. It's good to use that to your advantage; you are more unique than most people around you. Of course, you might not want to stick out, but you can enjoy your uniqueness quietly as well!
The gym is quite expensive, but fortunately we can do some great exercises at home. I used to do my Pilates exercises at home before I started going to the gym, and if you want I can recommend you some books and / or exercises. One of the advantages of going to the gym, is that you can find some people that are in the same circumstance as you, and you can push and pull each other along, which helps if you are not strong willed enough to do these things on your own. You might find someone in your area (perhaps someone you already know) to do exercises together. Or you might find a cheap(ish) Pilates class (some teachers I know give reductions to people that are not working)...
It seems like we share the same addictions! I only have coffee as an additional joyful demon to battle! Overeating is a problem, but you will find that as you control your calories you feel full quicker, as your stomach starts to shrink. If the meal you are getting is very big (i.e. it has a starter, main course and desert) you can try to eat a small portion for each. We are quite lucky that people don't feel insulted if we only eat a little bit; in South America it's a big insult if you don't at least have a second helping!
I noticed you started your weigh-ins, which is a great effort. Take it little by little, so you can see that you are progressing, which is very empowering, and you will get where you want to go!
Love to hear from you again!
Regards,
Rob
