Support Or Sabotage?
I try to surround myself with people who are supportive. At times I feel like family and friends intentionally try to ruin my weight loss progress. Why would anyone act like this?

Support!
Maybe jealous, uninformed or don't care about a heallthy and fit lifestyle. Glad you're here to get the support you need. Together we can do it.

Support
I feel that the people who sabotage, sometimes feel like they are being left behind or that you will change. You need to reassure them and Stay Strong.

i know why
Jealousy. Family can sabatoge your weight loss efforts because they are jealous of the success you are having, or they do not want anything to change- including you. Family eating habits run deep and anydeviation out of that may be to hard to handle. The best way to handle this situation is to encourage them that you are changing for your health and happiness and you need their support.

Sorry to hear that!
I guess it makes them uncomfortable in their own habits. I have a sister who is an alcoholic...she always wanted me to drink with her-the old if you can't beat 'em join 'em stuff-just realize it's their problem not your. Hang tough!

I agree with the comments so far... It can make people very uncomfortable in their own skin to see someone else improving in an area of life that they struggle with. Seeing someone else succeed tends to crush the rationalizations that we create to ease our own guilt.

I don't think it's jealousy
I agree with the comments about family eating habits running deep or even habits with friends. I have a very slim friend who likes to have a coffee and a strudel with me at coffee break or else split a buttered bagel. She likes me to have a snack with her because it's become our custom not because she's jealous of me. It's hard but it's true that we have to work on our friends to eat healthier along with us.

Keep up the good work and try to encourage family and friends to join in. Good eating habits and training is tough to stay on track.
