Technical Question
I am using another members workout plan and am very happy with it. I'm adjusting the weights for my body and am pushing it to the max... totally loving it!!!!! I'm using the app for the iphone to figure the calories, etc.... my question is the following: if the exercise calls for 20lbs weights, does that mean 2 10lb dumbells or 2 20lb dumbells? I'm confused because when it calls for 40lbs on a bar, it's obviously 40 total lbs on the bar. So when it calls for 20lbs lunges using dumbells, is that total or individual weight amounts? I want to be sure I am calculating and noting the correct weight on my app. THANK YOU SO MUCH! And I gotta say I love this site! It's a wealth of information!

Weight training!
I would take it as 10 lbs in each hand.

2nd opinion
I agree with rmatt06 since certain exercises can be done with a single dumbbell or separate such as lunges. You could hold 2 - 10lbers or hold 1 - 20lber with both hands (gives your arms more of a workout than just holding the single weights by your side)

Why not just create your own workout?
Copy the basics and then adjust it to the weights you are using. 20lb weights (meaning 2-20lb weights one in each hand) is a lot of weight. If you are already in shape, using the 20's will give you more muscle definition, but if you are pearing down, do 1 10 in each hand, and more reps with the lunges. That is what I would do. Best regards....
