Very New and need Help and Friends!!!
Hello all!
As my profile name states, I am a cancer survivor. I was diagnosed with cancer February 19, 2009. I had Surgery March 2, 2009. Now I am recovering and trying to lose weight like my doctor told me too. He told me that if I don't lose weight that the cancer could come back stronger than before. I need to lose about 60 to 100 lbs and don't have the money to go to a gym or get all the equipment. I have been walking but it is getting boring to me cause I don't have anyone to walk with me and encourage me. If anyone has any suggestions on a diet or exercises that may help me please write me back. All suggestions welcome. Cancer Survivor in Illinois.

Welcome Survivor
Looking to drop 100 pounds? You've come to the right place then.
I've very happy that you beat out Cancer, and it's time for you to gain control of your body, before it gains control back over you (as your Doctor said).
Walking is good. It DOES get boring, but, pick an easy workout here.
The YMCA has cut-rate memberships for low-income people. You can go to garage sales, church sales and thrift stores for shorts, tshirts, weights and treadmills. I have a decent home gym, all purchased used, from those very places.
Add me as a friend, I am interested in seeing your progress.

Hi Cancer Survivor
I was immediately drawn to your message by your name. I just joined today and was also diagnosed with cancer in Feb 09 and had surgery in March 09. Still treating but doing well. Need to lose 35-40 pounds (this time around). Have been up and down with weight all my life. Had lost 65 pounds 2 years ago and had maintained fairly well by walking BRISKLY for 4 miles, 6 days a week. Gained weight after cancer diagnosis. When I walk I like to listen to upbeat music. Seems to make the legs move faster and easier. Walking outside is best if there is some place suitable. Best of luck.

This May Sound Silly
But if you don't have weights at home use the vegetable canes in the kitchen pantry to give you some extra added weight to things like curls and extensions. If the walk is getting boring set yourself a time to walk a mile in then try to beat it. work yourself up to a light jog then in no time you'll probably be running but walking and setting a goal for yourself will motivate you to keep going
