Pretty Much Same
Hey,
I'm in the same boat. I'm 21 and I've dealt with some things that have lead to weight that I don't want anymore. I'm in college and sometimes it's hard to keep to it. If you want to be buddies let me know :)

Do it now; rather than later.
I'm new to this site also. I'm 49 and feel for you all. But, take it slowly like 2 pds a week. Little goals are better than big ones. Love who you are and eat only clean food. (Avoid empty calories) such as chips, candy, etc. micro-wave smart choice pop-corn is a good snack while studing. Lots of water. Tracking every bite is the key. I am a life-timer at ww. Move to
Asia 3 months ago, away from family, and found happiness in High-tea. Which included cakes. Every meal is rice and more rice. So, I need to start tracking again. I know it can be done. In Asia I wear xxxL. States I wear 10 or 12's; but in my mind I am a size 8. lol Anyway, My size 8's are waiting for me. Good luck All.

college... the weight gain danger zone!
It gets so easy to eat at weird hours... or to drink too many calories... or get sedentary with your studies. I gained over 50lbs in college and have spent the last 5 years getting it off again.

Being aware now while you're in school is awesome!
Don't be hard on yourself - it's college - so you have to have fun... but you don't have to abuse your body.

My recommendations:
* Document! Use this fitclick site to be honest with yourself. Hold yourself accountable. The math doesn't lie - so you'll have a true picture of what you are consuming and how active you are staying.
*Small meals throughout the day. Grazing is a great way to keep blood sugar levels steady (super important for your studies) - and you still satisfy your desire to munch without overwhelming yourself with calories.
*Fight that impulse to eat super late - you'll just screw up your sleep and won't be metabolizing that well.
*Don't skip breakfast.
*Give yourself treats - perhaps just reduce the portion. If you punish yourself you are more likely to binge and create a crappy cycle of feeling bad about yourself.

Best of luck! Study hard!

Journal
I so agree with Chocolatechips tracking every bite works. I lose way more weight and faster when I journal my meals and weigh it out. I know it sounds teadius but putting that extra effort into tracking will help you when it comes to making those choices when bad foods are present. I lost track of my goal during the summer and now back on the wagon. I use this site to track my workouts and meals at night and a little handheld notebook during the day to write down what im eating.
find a good vitamin to help suppress the appetite urges. find a natural one that works well with your body.
Good luck to all

@cooldogyss Good for you for asking for help
You can do this! Try to eat fresh fruit and vegetables and avoid processed foods and junk food whenever you can. Don't think about dieting, think about fueling your body with healthy "fuel". Try to do something active everyday. If you have the opportunity to get involved in an organized sport or running team at school great, but if you can't join a team, you can walk, run, ride a bike. Ask a parent or older sibling or relative to exercise with you. Watch less TV and make a rule for yourself that you never eat anything when you are watching TV. Most importantly love yourself no matter what your size and don't listen to mean kids who call you names. Kids who make fun of others are people with insecurities they are trying to hide. Try to make friends with other kids who are interested in health and fitness. Hugs to you - and good for you for reaching out for help!
