curves
Hello all. I am fairly new to FitClick and was wondering if any women feel going to Curves has helped. I am thinking of joining and would like some feed back. I do not get much exercise now.

not a Curves fan, but...
Some people seem to love it. I was not one of them. There's not enough fresh air circulation built into the office spaces they use and there are no ammenities. The only thing I liked was their stretching apparatus.
The YMCA offers a LOT more, such as a room full of various workout machines, treadmills, stairmasters, ellipticals, bicycles, swimming, raquetball, basketball, aerobics, zumba, yoga, saunas, steamrooms, showers. What's more to say?

I started Curves about a week and a half ago - great for me, b/c even though I always loved to stretch out my gym workout w/about an hour and a half of weights, machines, etc., I just don't have the time now - and they pack a lot of sweating into that 30 minutes (if you do it right ;) ) No results to share with you yet, first weigh in since starting is coming Monday. But one thing I really love about my Curves is lots of contests and games to keep you motivated - it feels like a community there, not just like a gym. I feel like I recognize everyone already from the ladies who go when I do. I think it will depend on 'your' curves though, what the people are like and how they run it. Go in and find out!

I go to curves 3-5 times per week. You get out of it just what you put into it. You can just go thru the motions, in which case you're not going to see a lot of results, or you can really work the machines the way you should. In order to see weight loss thru curves, you really do have to add something more to it, such as making some lifestyle changes. When it comes to toning, the curves workout does a great job. During my busy season of harvest, I usually have to stop going for 2 or more months. My hubby can always tell when I'm back to curves. he says I'm curvier in all the right places again. Also, if your curves is anything like mine, it's the friends you develop there. We all refer to our noon workouts as going to therapy! Everyone there has great advice on diet, exercise, relationships, etc. Every pound or inch lost is celebrated by women who are facing the same struggle. So, that's my take on it, for what it's worth.
