day one and a long way to go while fighting depresion
Hi everyone, I just found this site and am again starting my weight loss journey for the umpteenth time. I am defiantly what you would call obese and suffer with depression. so when I get down I tend to throw all good habits out the window. Does anyone have any pointers on staying the course with depression?

So sorry to hear.
I do not have depression. But trust me, I know what starting for the gazillionth time is like. I have lost and gained my whole life. I have never not had a weight issue. Now, I have a "skin" issue. As in, loose skin, deflated balloon syndrome. I still have about 40 lbs to lose, I have lost 40 already...just look at each day as a do over. We all screw up but it is those of us who don't give up that get there, little by little. NOT all at once. Think the old addage..."Rome wasn't built in a day" b/c although it fell, it was a great society/culture and some of the most incredible works came from that period. We are our own little micro-culture/city we have to look at ourselves as works of art in progress!!!!

I think we all fight mental issues. Sometimes staying positive for me is minute by minute. If you can take the time to use this site when you are down, maybe that will be enough time for you to become centered again. Focus on the great things you are willing to try.

Using fitclick daily is helping me stay on track. I knew I couldn't keep going if I did not have something other than pencil and paper to track and stay motivated on my journey. Follow me on here and I will follow back. I was depressed when I started a few weeks back but hitting small goals tracking on here and being active several times a day on here etc I am not beating myself up over the 120+ pounds I have to go anymore. I am having fun and keepin' on truckin'!

Janet, hope all is going well!! Depression is a big obstacle :( ... I found that I had to learn to value myself as much as valued my children and loved ones. Until then there is no motivation to provide the proper care and feeding to the despised creature within :(
