giving up Diet Coke
Today will be the first day of me giving up Diet Coke. I have been drinking it for years and it has become a drug for me. So what I think I will do for now is replace it with natural iced tea and more water. I want to see if my body changes and howI feel. Wish me luck

Good luck!
I gave it up back in December, and believe me it was hard!!! The first week will be rough, but when you get through that it goes so much easier. Now when I have a craving I'll indulge but find that I can't drink it ... I've lost the taste and it gives me heartburn!!
If you miss the carbonation Wal-mart has a great line of carbonated water with many different flavors! Also adding Crystal Light (or off brands like I use) to your water helps give flavor when you just have to have it!
Again Good Luck!!!!

another thought....
If you can find Zevia they have cola and many other flavors--sweetened with Stevia. Even my Dad who is SO picky about taste was able to give up his "coke habit" after being diagnosed a diabetic using these. It isn't cheap but it's great when you want/need that soda fix! I discovered it reading the book by Jorge Cruise.

Wishing you well :)

Congratulations
On making a great decision to further your health!! If you have trouble with sugar cravings eating more fresh fruit should help. I love Pellegrino when I'm craving some fizz - sometimes with a little fresh squeezed lemon or lime. But truthfully - once you get into the habit of drinking a lot of just plain old water (alot = 1/2 to all your body weight in ounces a day....if you weigh 150, that would be 75 to 150 ounces in a day), you'll start craving that!

Good luck!

I am confused!
I know thie reply is from a post a few months ago, but I am a little new to the site and am trying to get as much info as possible to help me out.

So, I have been only on this site and on my path to a skinnier me for about a week, but I have let myself continue drinking Diet pepsi.. I thought it is NOT that bad for u.. The breakdown is 0 everything, but only 35mg of Sodium and that's it. So if you calculate that into your Diet Tracker you should be fine.

why soda is bad for you
It's not the calories that make diet soda bad - it's the fake stuff - there are a lot of chemicals that aren't natural and that stuff is just rough on your body. You wouldn't eat plastic--which is made from chemicals, so why drink chemicals? The regular sodas are better for you than diet - diet has more chemicals in it to make it sweet w/o calories, but regular sodas have a lot of sugar and calories which are pretty bad on your blood sugar and tend to send your calorie count over the top for the day. You can find natural sodas made with all organic ingredients (they're more expensive of course!) but they do have plenty of sugar and calories...not bad to have every now and then, but not great to be drinking daily.
