The Challenge is ON. You just motivated me to move it because I thought I wrote that posting. Round 1: 52 Pickup . . . one card at a time.

dont be so hard on yourselves
You have taken the first step, the desire to loose weight. Now, you just need to take one day at a time. The first thing I would suggest, to everyone, is to gain some knowledge on the topic of loosing weight. Just as you do when you want to start anything new! I would be happy to help! Let me know who is interested. We can work together as a team. The more you know the easier it is to implement. Sincerely, Ucan2

i would like to know more about loosing weight
My main problem i know is I LOVE CARBS.... Cereal, bagals, toast, spegetti, mac salad, potato salad, lazanna, buns on hamb, hot dogs, pizza. Everything is carbs... I tried to cut way down and i would get light headed im assuming it's from lack of carbs. I dont know.

A healthy life begins with you :).
My Daughter works At Mickey D's and I learned from her that their food is not eater friendly. I usually go for a side salad and when I get home I use my own salad dressing . I also drink water or grab a decaf coffee. The french Fries are a NO, NO, They put more beef flavor in the fries than in their burgers. All fast food resteraunts have healthy alternatives you just gotta chose one that's flavorful as well.

Best of luck!
"it was easier to quit smoking then it is to quit eating"

One of my biggest challenges I have is my outlook on healthy eating. Much like you I always associated losing weight with a food deficit. As I have begun to gradually (meaning many, many setbacks) change my diet I realized that in fact I have to eat more than before to maintain a healthy diet (including proper amounts of fruits, veggies and H2O).

I found the best way to get started was to track everything I ate for about 3 days—and I do mean everything. It was annoying and honestly I wanted to quit by the third day because I quickly realized just how much garbage I was putting in my mouth--that was a takeoff point for me. (I imagine much like you felt sitting in McDonald’s and became self-aware.)

I would recommend highly that you keep as F&E’s journal, as I call it. The “F” stands for food, as this is the basic purpose of the journal. (FitClick will allow you to track meals, which is a nice feature to get feedback and analysis.) The other half of the journal are the “E’s,” a broader entry set which can include: exercise, energy and emotions. This helps me more than just counting calories because while my body changes very slowly my emotions and motivation change as impulsively as my desire for food.

I hope you succeed in you desire to get started!

OMG- I *heart* you for saying it!
I recently had an appointment with my doctor where she made me write down the following.....

I AM ALLERGIC TO FAST FOOD!

She knows me all too well, and that's also my problem! :P I have to buckle down but it's really not easy is it?

And your right, it is easier to quit smoking than it is to change your eating habits. It was for me too but that was because there was one thing that I had to walk away from, one thing to say no to. It's easy not to put yourself in those situations but food is different, you HAVE to have food to survive- you can't just walk away from it and never put yourself in that situation again. You have to make decisions every day about what you can and cannot eat instead of one determination to not do it again.

I need the same help- is there a 12 step program for carbs? :)
