Indoor Camping

Monday, February 14, 2011 at 7:09 PM filed under General postings
I went to a three day indoor camping event with the SCA this weekend.  Some bright spark hit on the idea of renting a warehouse so that people could bring tents and set them up inside the warehouse.  This resulted in people being much more able to come to the event because it's a bit north for most of us for this time of the year.  We never know what the weather will be.

The food was great; my friend and I opted for the meal plan and I must say that the 'Feastocrat&...

I'm going to do 4 things on my trip, see the country, of course, visit friends of course,  visit as many 'sacred' and historical sites of petroglyphs and such as I can and also visit as many Curves as I can.  I wonder how many I can check off in 3-4 months of travel?

I have occasionally found Curves in the middle of nowhere but central to the surrounding area of small towns.  It will be fun and it will keep me in line. I need check in places as well as to kee...

Light bulb moment

Monday, January 24, 2011 at 6:54 PM filed under General postings
I have been looking around the site and once again thinking, "But it does offer much the same as the Curves site so why aren't you using it?" and I'm admitting to the reason behind my reluctance: there's men in  here.

That's not meant to be sexist, although it might seem so to some.  It's about comfort level. I love the the fact that there are no men in a Curves exercise room.  But expressing my middle aged insecurities to unknown men is somehow now so won...

Curves did it first

It's kind of funny that there are all these 'new' approaches to dieting and they boil down mostly to variations of the Curves principle.  Dr. Oz is the latest to jump on the bandwagon. oh well...

I received a nice little package from Diane magazine; a tote and toiletries.  Very nice indeed.  I especially love the shea body butter; I've only just in the last few months discovered this substance.   Where have I been?  This stuff is amazing!

Is starting to get noticed.  My Supervisor at work wants permission to mention it in our county newsletter.   It'll be a sizable advertising for Curves, that's for sure.  The county is very big on promoting healthy lifestyles.

I figure that it's going to be all over the US and Canada, what's menton in another artcle?

Seriously, everyone really likes it.  It's a nice, feel good little piece of journalism.  There's enough nasty st...

Curves Article is out

Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 8:21 PM filed under General postings
My days off between Christmas and the New Year were supposed to be lazy days at home but I put almost 2000 km on the car in that time. Now I don't have too many travel plans so I can settle down a bit.

I went to see my brother in Sudbury; as I remembered, the nearest Curves was practically accross the street. The people there were really nice.  They were tickled about the article, in fact that's where I first saw it. I had such a nice visit there.  What's really cool is ...

I have moved from 'obese' to overweight.  Kind of a nebulous acheivement. Well, take them as they come.

Catching up, again

Sunday, December 19, 2010 at 9:18 AM filed under General postings
Well, the Curves site is down.

I have discovered that the "not so much a morning person" is more of a morning person that I realized. This week, I decided to go back to my workout after work pattern and in the process discovered that it translates into "Not getting there at all."  So, it's back to early morning workouts. 5:45 am does seem early!

It seems so ironic that here we are trying to lose weight in an economy in which so many a...
