Boxing kicked my butt!!

Last night, after a whole week of neglecting poor Gym, I worked out for 2 hours straight!

Ok, ok, ok...I know that may not be super impressive, but what IS impressive is that I did two classes back to back.  I am not one for taking classes, I much prefer to work out on my own with free-weights and cardio exercises. I also find the Fit Click workout plan very useful. I like to follow it. So, for me to go off my plan (other than when I miss a workout entirely) is very much out of the ordinary for me.

This week, I've had a lack of motivation so I decided to try out a class. I went last night with the intention of only participating in the boot camp class that my gym provides. This workout consists of jogging on the spot while doing various (and interchanging) punching motions with your hands. You then proceed with squats and fast moving cardio related leg exercises. This is all repeated with weights. Then floor work which, of course, is all about the abs. It was a very intense class and to top it off the teacher was an older man who seemed a little on the crazy side (think richard simmons).

So, drenched in sweat and heading towards the changeroom, I at the last minute changed my mind and decided to participate in the next class, a boxing class. We starting off with running, running backwards, sideways, lots of running basically. Then skipping, jumping jacks.  OH then abs. LOTS of abs. and it was hard! We then moved on to wrapping our hands to get ready to box. This was the first time I've done it so I had a helper show me how to wrap my hands and show me the proper technique. After getting down the basic two punch move (im not sure if that's the real name) I got a chance, with gloves to punch the bag. Anyway, I just have to say boxing is an INTENSE workout and my arms and back a barely moveable right now.

I feel really good about doing those two classes (my body feels differently) but I don't think I will be doing it again. One class a night should do me good!
