A happy morning!

Yesterday was my birthday. My significant other, Tom, brought home gorgeous multi-colored roses and a chocolate birthday cake. I have not shared with him that I am watching what I eat because weight has always been a delicate subject between us. Therefore, he was unaware that a big chocolate cake was not my heart's desire.

My children also stopped by to help me celebrate my 29th birthday (at least that's what they all claim it is if they want to stay in mom's will!). My son's fiance, the inimitable Maria, brought a beautiful Whole Foods carrot cake to celebrate the occasion. You should have seen the absolutely gorgeous carrots made from calorie laden, orange icing!

So, here is the rather rotund (or voluptuous, if you're kind) birthday girl with not one, but two, birthday cakes!

Well, I decided that I would have a piece of each and workout substantially harder at the gym in the morning. Luckily, I had decided to limit my intake throughout the day in case someone showed up with a cake so I actually managed to remain at a calorie deficit around 300 for the day!

This morning, I waddled into the bathroom prepared to have my ears boxed by my scale when, lo and behold, I had lost two pounds since my last weigh-in! Now, I don't know if the birthday cake will come back to bite me in a few days but the two pound loss will assuredly keep me motivated to workout harder at the gym today and to keep being patient in meeting my weight loss goal. Only 68 pounds to go! Happy 29th birthday to me (AGAIN!)
