I have started a new exercise plan called resistance bands. Right now there are eight exercises and I will add more. For those of you in Rehab, the bands are very inexpensive and the exercises are generally easy to do in a bed or chair.

I did each exercise tonight for 10 minutes  and burned off over 600 calories.

On Friday I was treated for skin cancer. I was told that if I were to go outside, it had to be before noon and after 4 PM. I had to wear a hat and SPF 50 sunscreen which the Drs gave me.

Yesterday I bought resistance bands and did my first strength training workout. Today at 4, I took my Granson to the pool and we worked out together for 90 minutes. He thought that we were playing. We raced back and forth an olympic sized pool for 90 minutes stopping long enough to do so...

Take a 1/2 a cup of cottage cheese. Add 2 teaspoons of honey and a sliced banana. Delicious. I had it for breakfast this morning and it was filling and very tasty.

I have now lost 12 pounds and feel pretty good. Since the physical therapy started my Parkinson's disease seems to be totally under control. My diabetes is under control as I am now counting my carbs as I enter them into the diet tracker when I add my meals. I am working out every day. Sometimes it is walking the dogs 4 times a day for 15 minutes every trip. (Does it count when I take them in the car?)

I have made some friends on the board and we are helping each other. ...

New Workout-swimming

Today my ankles were sore so I felt that walking was out of the question. I went to our community pool and for one hour I swam, exercised, walked in the water and did every type of exercise I could think of.

Now I am dead. I have never been so tired in all my life. I had fun. But I am dead. I will post later when I am alive again.

My colorful ankles

So far I have lost 8 pounds by diet as well as exercise. Last night I felt that my ankles and feet were very sore. I looked down and noticed that my ankles were the color of a Macintosh apple. They were also the same size. So last night I slept with my legs elevated. This morning they are back to normal.

With that in mind, today I will not be walking all over Miami but instead I will head over to the pool and do some swimming and water aerobics. Now you would think to yourself, my...

My first few days

Living with Diabetes, congestive heart failure and Parkinson's Disease is no easy task. I am about 75 pounds overweight, give or take 10 pounds. I have been LAZY. That is the easiest way to put it.

I rarely check my blood sugars, I eat when and what I want, and I never ever exercise.

All that has changed this week. I am checking my blood sugars and giving my self boluses of insulin as needed. I am eating 1800 calories a day and counting my carbs. I am trying to exer...
