Week Two - Discovering Yoga!

I bought my first yoga mat yesterday - It's pink with white flowers and I love it. I figured that liking the mat itself was important. If I really like it, I'll use it. I apply the same rule to workout clothing, and so far it hasn't steered me wrong.
Exercise has become a very positive part of my routine since I started trying to lose weight (35lbs to go!) and so far I've flollowed your basic gym workout: cardio for 25 min then upstairs to the weight room, alternating upper and lower body strength training. Pretty much your bread and butter - mmm butter. How I miss thee.
I decided that I needed to change it up a bit. I've heard so much about Yoga so it seemed like a logical addition to my basic routine. What an experience! I loved it!
Yoga is tough but the first thing I learned is that it feels really good - my whole body tingled with positive energy after my first class and the feeling stayed with me for several hours. I've also discovered that a few gentle poses before bedtime can lead to a deep, uninterupted sleep. This morning I woke up before my alarm, feeling instantly bright-eyed and well rested.
I can't wait for my next class!
