So, last week, I was reading some other people's blogs, and comments and saw that there are a good number of fans of the Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred workout, and DVD. Its cheap, about $9 on eBay... so I thought- "what the heck, why not?"
I ordered the DVD, got it within 2 or 3 days, (on a saturday) and decided I would start it on Monday. Surprisingly, I was excited and enthused to begin. sometimes I talk myself out of things, like the brand new Wii Zumba game, that I have ONLY done the tutorials on... ugh.
So yesterday, Monday, I popped the dvd in, and went straight to workout 1- this workout is the entry level of the 3 step program. Jillian breaks the entire 30 days into 3 steps.
Step 1-20 mins of straight moving, no stopping(20 mins seems like a lot, but it really goes fast, and you dont even realize its been that long)
she starts you out with 1 minute of stretching, and then right into cardio. You do 30 second intervals, of things like jumping jacks, butt kicks, crunches, and you do each set 2 times. for a total of 1 minute per exercise. Its called "muscle confusion" and should be called "kicking a** and taking names" because, I hurt, almost instantly after my first workout.
20 minutes is easy, so easy that I thought it would not be enough. But I assure you, IT IS. I hurt all day yesterday, thougth that when I woke up this morning, it would all be "better" but it wasnt, it was "worse". Which, in a strange ways, is GOOD. So good, it shows me that its working, just after 1 day.
Woke up this morning, decided to do it first thing, no talking myself out of it, just do it! And I did, even while my husband was watching(which is... well. embarrassing!)
Did my workout, showered and was ready for the day! early! WHICH is a big struggle with being at home all day, you have no real motivation to do anything, but this is doing it. I feel like things are really changing. Burned 304 calories in 20 mins and feel great about it. I think by working out so early, that it makes me accountable to the hard work that I have done and I concentrate on eating healthy and staying motivated. 30 days...
I can do anything for 30 days, especially considering I spend a lot more than 20 mins a day on the computer. I can give up 20 measly minutes of that time. I have hopes that this 30 days, will change me. Make myself one of my priorities again. It feels good to be sweating, and get lost in working out for that 20 mins. Maybe this will lead to me joining a gym, or at the least running or walking!
I hope we all can guide each other towards this!
