Bar Bulge

So I was doing the math today, for the first time for real, to figure out just how much weight I gained during the 3 months of study for the bar exam. I didn't think it was that much, after all I don't think I look THAT different than I did prior to the bar. Sure, I can only squeeze into one pair of jeans anymore and even those are painfully tight and uncomfortable, and maybe yeah even my shoes are a little tighter than they used to be. And okay I do have trouble taking my engagement ring on and off these days...... but it couldn't be THAT much weight, right? Wrong. 18 lbs. I gained a minimum of 18 lbs in the three or four months leading up to the bar exam, and I didn't quit there! Being fat is always an excuse to get fatter, ride out the fat wave just that little bit further, so with a family vacation as my justification, I ate and drank my way through several more pounds, I would imagine, in the weeks post-bar and pre-getting down to the business of imagining what I will actually look like in my wedding pictures if I don't do something about the dire situation in the hip and thigh region. Anyway, now that I actually CAN'T fit into my singular pair of jeans without also wearing a very long and loose shirt to cover all the spaces the jeans fail to cover, I'm finally all in. It's time to deal with the weight and get back to being happy. So, with that realization, I am going to pretty much do whatever it takes to get to the gym EVERY MORNING on weekdays. Since I am so out of shape, I can't do very strenuous cardio right now. And the only way to make up for not being able to do much, or very strenuous, cardio, is to just do what I can each day. I am proud to say I actually got up this morning at 5 am and went to the gym, and I hope to continue the trend throughout the week.
