Back on track

So two and a half years ago I got on the scale and I couldn't believe what I saw. It read 306lbs, at 5ft 10inches I carried my weight really well, so I didn't really notice how much I gained over the years.
Well I lost 80lbs with lots of excerice and healthy diet; I then decide to quit smoking. Which I've done, but I packed on 30lbs from the 80lbs I lost. Well am focused again and want to start again, I signed up for a 5k in May, I want to lose 15lbs before the race comes. I've been training hard for the past2 months, but my diet hasn't matched my hard work. But now am going to match it...hopefully the pounds will fall off like last time.
