konnyaku

Konnyaku is a japanese product derived from the yam plant. It is very low in carbs and very satisfiying since it has the consistency of a potato. It comes in packages in the refrigerated section. You probably can get it in any asian food store since it is a staple for the japanese cuisine. Once you get it out of the package, it will smell funny, but all you have to do is rinse it well, and then boil it for 4-5 minutes. After that, you can add it to stir fries, stews, salads, or anything else with a sauce. It will absorb the flavor of the sauce the longer you cook it in it.
