Can't keep the motivation
I'm currently deployed to Afghanistan and work during the night 8pm until 9am. I conduct strength training on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in the middle of my shift and cardio on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. I have no choice in food. It's whatever is made and available when I get to the chowhall. I've lost 9 lbs in the 1 and a half months I've been in country but I'm starting to hit the snooze button on run days rather than get up. And I'm starting to slack on my chow. Trust me, there is much temptation to be had here like ice cream and cakes out on display for the troops. I have no workout buddies here. My team can't go to the same area together simultaneously. Besides, I think an outside influence could help. I'm trying to drop body fat prior to leave in November 09. If you think you can help me out, I'm all for it.

Good luck & thank you
Commenting on ways to be motivated to exercise is not something I should say much about. (This is a big hurdle for me as well) But I can say (as an overweight & out of shape middle-aged woman) that I wish I'd never let myself go. That I wish I'd maintained the discipline I had as a young woman to jog & keep myself reasonbly in shape. You sound like a very disciplined young man. Hang in there!!!! And hold onto your good habits!
Also, thank you for all that you've done for your country. The sacrifices you've made & willingness to put aside your comfort for us is greatly appreciated. God bless you & all who are there with you.

Thanks back
Thanks for the thought. Unfortunately, with 4 children and train up for deployment, I failed as a Soldier to keep my covenant and allowed myself to fall into a malaise. Rather than do P.T., I would go home and eat breakfast and after a few months found myself at 225 lbs. and unable to fit into my uniform. Disgusting, but I would always have an excuse (too busy, stress, new baby, etc.) and fail to see that I was not maintaining my promise to the country. Sadly, there are other Soldiers like me. I hope that I can beat this. I intend to take leave in November and look like a Soldier should as I walk through the airport. Again, I appreciate your reply.
