hard to say...
Tried to find the answer. Found these sites...
http://www.thefactsaboutfitness.com/news/cold.htm
In this article the author cites several studies with conflicting conclusions. It seems that just being cold can elevate caloric burn but exercising in the cold is not as effective at burning fat as exercising in warming temps. Check at the above link and let me know what you make of it.
This next site addressed the specific sweat question...
http://www.fitsugar.com/Do-You-Burn-More-Calories-When-You-Sweat-More-16022437
here is a quote from this site...
"The reason we sweat is to control our body's temperature. When liquid hits our skin (from the inside) and then evaporates, the evaporation is cooling. However, this is not the most accurate indicator of how intensely you are working out or how many calories you are expending. In fact, you actually burn more calories running outdoors in the cold versus summer in the heat."
...
All very fascinating! :)

Hot or Cold Burns more calories?

More Energy
Dad always said it takes more energy to stay warm in winter, so thus a more calorie burn. He always had an answer for everything.

Hot or Cold
I'm leaning towards hot because I find the body performs better. When I'm cold I find you just go through the motion.
