Need a buddy/support
Today is my first day on this website. I feel desperate to lose weight but feel like I'm the only one up at 3am eating bowl after bowl of cereal! Am I the only compulsive overeater out there? Luckily my son keeps me busy so I could weigh more, but currently would really like to lose at least 30 lbs. I have a cruise and a few vocal performances coming up that I see as motivation, but I just feel so alone and overwhelmed! I've lost this weight before and have now gained it back. I feel so disgusted with myself and my appearance. I eat decent one day, then have 3 or 4 horrible eating days. I try to exercise a few times a week. I'm constantly looking for the newest diet, diet pill or mind tricks to lose this weight! Is anyone out there?

Me Too!
Today is my first day on this website, too and your story sounded very similar to mine. I need to lose 20 pounds and I'm finding that exercising isn't as fun as it used to be when I was in shape. I do the same thing you descirbed - eat decent one day and then blow it! I'm constantly thinking of food and doing food related things. My problem is that I love to cook and get creative in the kitchen. I used to find a great challenge in discovering new ways to prepare foods - healthy, low fat versions, but somehow I've gone the other way - more like Paula Dean.

But starting today, I need to get serious about this. Life is too short to be self-loathing.

Do not feel alone. Many of use have been through that yo-yo dieting. There are organizations that can help you. In many cases the problem is one of self concept. If you do not "see" yourself as healthy then no matter what you do it will not work.

I have been there more times then i like to talk about. In my life i must have taken off and put back on 1000 lbs. Well almost. But this is the last time i go through this, i have been attacking the problem from many different angles.

Keep up the good work. You can do it.
