Stress Eating
I would like to hear how others deal with stress eating. I really struggle with not hitting the candy dish when things get stressful at work.

Who stocks the candy dish? At home I have stopped buying candy and sugary treats. I have heard this: "If you don't have it you can't eat it" ... so true. If someone else is stocking the candy dish at work then one option is to have alternative "safe" snacks at your disposal. I have been eating lots and lots of fresh fruit whenever I am looking for a snack. I also have a big cup of green tea (sweetened with stevia) with me. Sipping on something is a great distraction from snacking and reaching for candy.

Take other healthy snacks with you to work for stressful times.

I agree w/ JJ and StLv.
Candy isn't my go-to-food, when I am stress eating-I usually want chips, or bread. Carbs are my weakness. I think if you have a drink like JJ said, it will help.

Can't eat when I'm stressed or upset, but do avoid the candy dish at work when I'm not by having my own snacks.

If you have access to a freezer at your work, a nice treat to eat when stressed are frozen grapes! (: But honestly, you can keep dried fruits and nuts in your desk drawer for a healthier alternative to that candy dish.
-You can also do deep breathing exercises at your desk to help relieve the stress.
-Take frequent breaks if you can and just walk around a bit

Stress
I try to stay busy and out of the kitchen or (even better) the house.
I like yard work mowing, even cleaning the side of the roads for the town near my house.

Thanks for the input
I try to do most of the things mentioned. One of my biggest weaknesses at home is bread. I have quit buying bread, candy and other sweets at home, so when I have that stress craving, I usually end up with some water or yogurt. The receptionist at work keeps the candy dish full, and she also makes sure there are plenty of cookies and crackers in the break room. I try to avoid that unless I am making tea. I do like green tea and try to have at least two cups at work and keep a bottle of water handy. There is just certain moments when the stress at work starts to get the better of me and the butterfinger in the candy dish starts talking to me.

eating to deal with stress
I need to learn how to find other ways to relieve my stress besides eating. I have gained an unbelievable amount of weight in the past five years and there are some things in my life that cause stress, but cannot be changed. Food has been like a security blanket for me. It always seems to be there when I cant handle life. Then after I binge, I feel like a horrible person who has no self control at all. My family needs me and I am afraid I am going to cause myself to have a heart attack. I do not really have anyone to turn to that understands so if there is anyone on here who can help me or has any ways to beat this, please contact me on here. Thank you.
