Time to be selfish and do something for myself
I am new to all of this - I just went to the doctor this morning and she said that I am heading down that road to where I don't want to go. That being said my husband bought me a gym membership for Christmas I think it's time to quit making excuses and do this for me. I lost 40 lbs last year just by walking and then I gave it all up - for what - yeap Excuses - I'm done - I don't want to be another satistic with heart disease or diabetes and anything else that comes with being Obese. I'm DONE....it's time to do this for me first and then my family because I want to be around for them in the long run. What I learned so far is that "I can control what I put in my mouth"

Wow!
It's encouraging to hear that it's possible to lose 40 pounds in a year just by walking! I recently decided to "window" shop once a week just to burn the calories. How much walking did you do to lose that much? Maybe it was so much that you got bored with it?
I think it would be UNselfish of you to lose the weight for your family. Maybe you just need to mix it up between the gym and walking, etc., as well as use FitClick's nutrition trackers to change your eating habits.

Good for you
Good for you. I too lost close to 40 lbs last year and then put 10 back on. Joined a gym in January and made the decision to dedicate 6 hours per week, 2 hours three days each week, to hit the gym and workout. Workout is about an hour of weights, 8 to 10 exercises for total body, and 30 - 40 minutes of cardio intervals on treadmill. Add to that the 30 minutes of walking 3x per week during lunch. and I have lost 10 lbs since the beginning of February. Key to weight loss is burning more calories than you take in. I log everything I eat every day and monitor the calories burned and make sure I have a calorie deficit 6 of the 7 days of the week.
