Emotional Eating and How the Universe Hates Me

Damn.  I did it again.

Found out some discouraging news today, and what did I do?  Went and scarfed down a cheeseburger, fries, and chips and salsa.

I have a degree in Psychology, I know what needs to be done.   I KNOW that when I feel the impulse to binge I should redirect it to something more healthy.

Here's what I'm going to do differently. I'm going to choose to view this differently.

Isn't it amazing how life throws you curveballs?  Just as you think you're getting somewhere, life comes out of nowhere and punches you in the face.  I'm choosing to have a different perspective than I've had in the past.  Negativity has gotten me nowhere.

“There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.”

It has always baffled me that so many people are fanatically devoted to finding THE Truth… the one and only answer to everything that should apply to everyone at all times. I just don’t think it works that way… there are too many variables, and not enough absolutes. Even if we could find the answer today, I believe it would no longer apply tomorrow.

Everything is constantly changing. Nothing lasts. Maybe if we weren’t so worried about finding the right answers, we could focus on enjoying the questions, the uncertainties, the endless options and opportunities. Believe it or not, there is a liberating joy in NOT knowing.

I am going to embrace the ever-changing world, roll with the problems it throws at me, and continue my journey.
