Sleep vs off-plan eating

At 185 pounds, I could only lie down if I'd not had any calories for 4 hours. Even then, I had to lie on my side, with my CPAP mask on just right, or I'd start coughing and not be able to stop until I got up and drank a cup of water. I ate from 7 AM to 7 PM and was in bed from 11 PM to 7 AM. I was hungry from 9 to 11 PM, but it was necessary in order to sleep at all.
When I was declined for health insurance, my insurance agent suggested it was because of weight and apnea. Scary wake up call! I started the curves diet. Evenings were even more difficult on fewer calories, but I did it. After losing 10 pounds, I was no longer waking up all night, coughing. At 20 pounds lost I no longer needed the CPAP. At 25 pounds lost, I could lie down just one hour after eating! Unfortunately, that removed one of the main limits on my eating. Now, when I want an evening snack, I have to remind myself that it'll make me gain weight & lose this freedom!
Sleep is good. Coughing is bad. Fat belly causes reflux causes coughing prevents sleep. Fat belly bad; eat less! Stupid appetite.
